Last year’s holiday at the Hotel Villa Sostaga would be have been superb anyway, but it was the excellent food on offer which really made it supremely memorable.
The hotel itself was wonderfully clean and tidy, and, as a former hunting lodge, looked like something out of a romantic novel. Set in 40 hectares of woodland, on the shores of Lake Garda,
Italian cuisine at hotel Villa Sostaga is also very fine. The dining area, with its huge communal table, felt warm and welcoming, and was a perfect complement to the tasty food on offer.
Obviously, the cuisine is Italian, and bears all the hallmarks of traditional cookery from this part of the country. Local produce was very much to the fore, with a host of great seasonal vegetables complementing every dish perfectly.
